Choose Which Product Variation Shoppers See First
Overview
Showing the right product variation helps your shoppers see the option that is most relevant to the page or promotion. You may want to lead with an on-sale pack size, a seasonal or overstocked colorway, or the specific variation promoted in a sponsored listing. Previously, you had to rely on the variation selected by score, without a way to control which one shoppers saw in each context. With the new face-out variation rule, you can choose the preferred variation for each search, browse, collection, campaign, or facet context, then set an ordered fallback so the product remains visible if your first choice is unavailable.
With this update you can:
- Choose which variation of a selected product shoppers see on the product tile when the rule applies.
- Create face-out variation rules for search, browse, collection, campaign, and facet pages.
- Add preferred variations in priority order. Constructor shows the first variation in the list that is eligible and in stock.
- If none of your preferred variations can be shown, Constructor uses the default variation selection so the product remains visible.
- Items that are partially sliced or fully sliced cannot be faced-out.
Getting Started:
- Open the rule creation screen in the Customer Dashboard, select your desired context (search, browse or campaign) and on the rule preview page select Face-out variation.
- Choose an item that has not been fully or partially sliced.
- Select the variation that should face out and add fallback variations in the order Constructor should try them.
- Save the rule.
- Preview how the face-out will look like on rule preview or interact.
