Highlighting Results of Boost and Bury in Searchandising Preview

Boosting and burying products by attribute or by a single item allows merchandisers to adapt item rankings dynamically without having to pick a fixed position like they do with Slotting rules. Besides saving time by not having to decide on a certain position, Boost and Bury rules work hand in hand with the Constructor AI algorithms, moving items in alignment with business objectives or other goals for an experience while still delivering on key business metrics.

To provide more transparency to the effect of Boost and Bury rules in real-time, the items in the preview area are now highlighted with a thick gray border, while an arrow in the upper right corner of an item card specifies the direction an item moved (up for Boost, down for Bury).

Boosted item is highlighted with a thick gray border; an arrow specifies the direction.

Slot to Position Now Available!

Slotting items within the Searchandising grid view just got even easier! Now merchandisers can specify a position number that they would like to slot an item into directly within the visual editing view. This can be especially handy for instances where merchandisers are looking to move items more than a couple of positions or rows from their natural ranking.

Now, on hover merchandisers will see an input box on the top left side of the product card where they can enter the slot position that they’d like the item to move to. Once moved, it will also be shown on the left hand side of the screen where additional details can be added like timeboxing and sponsored item flags.

Input box on hover over a product card.

Enhanced Searchandising Filtering Now Available

Searchandising is such a key way many of our customers enhance their product discovery experience that it is no wonder it’s one of the most used areas of the dashboard. This also means that many customers have numerous curated rules in place across their experience.

It has not always been easy to understand where you have certain types of rules in place, like a boost or bury, or if you have rules that have been identified as needing a review because they have under-performing or aged slotting rules in place - that is until today. We’re excited to announce that enhanced filtering for Searchandising rules is now available in the dashboard.

New filtering options for rule types and conditions.

With this, you’ll be able to filter for each type of Searchandising rule (or a combination of rule types) as well as for rules flagged for review, and expired rules. This will make it much easier to have a high-level understanding of what is happening across your Searchandising experience, as well as make activities like rule auditing and maintenance even easier.

Deep Dive Product Performance with Item Analytics

We’re excited to announce a brand-new type of analytics insight now available in the dashboard! As we continue to build out our analytics in the areas that are most important to you, we have released a new way to view data at the item level: Item Analytics.

It’s available now for all items in your catalogue so that you can see exactly how each item is performing and compare the metrics over different time periods.

Access these new insights by first visiting the Searchandising page for any search term, category, collection, facet page or campaign. You’ll see a new link on each item card; clicking it will open a new page of analytics for that item.

To start with, we’re showing the total number of Add-to-Carts and Clicks for that item across all products (Search, Browse, Recommendations, etc.) We plan to add more data over time, including where the clicks came from (Search, Browse, etc.) and which search terms and category pages led the user to the item.

Introducing Related Searches – Expand Your Product Discovery

We are excited to introduce the Related Searches feature in our latest update. This functionality is designed to enhance the user experience by providing related query suggestions, helping users refine their searches, and discover more attractive results quickly.

Related Searches is an innovative functionality that suggests additional, attractive search terms based on the initial query entered by the user. It employs sophisticated algorithms to analyze search behavior and trends, offering suggestions that users might not have considered, thereby expanding their search horizon.

 This feature addresses various problems:

  • Refining overly broad queries to deliver more specific results
  • Expanding narrow searches to broader contexts when initial results are scarce
  • Ensuring continuous discovery even when initial queries return zero results

Incorporating Related Searches can lead to a 30% increase in user engagement, as users are encouraged to explore more products and spend more time on the platform. By providing relevant alternatives and deeper exploration paths, related searches can decrease the likelihood of users leaving the site unsatisfied. Studies have shown that effective use of related searches can reduce bounce rates by up to 20-40%.

To activate Related Searches please connect with your Customer Success Manager or contact us through support@constructor.io.

We believe Related Searches will revolutionize the way users interact with your site by making their search experience more comprehensive and satisfying. Try it today to see a positive impact on your e-commerce metrics!

Slotting Improvements Galore!

We’re excited to share that we’ve made a number of improvements to slotting within Searchandising to help make the work of merchandisers even more efficient. These improvements include:

  • Add timeboxing directly within the slotting CSV. As merchandisers are uploading slotting in bulk they can now add start/end dates and time directly in the file. This can help make bulk timeboxing of slotting rules really efficient and allow you to do that work all in one place.
  • Export slotted items to a CSV file. This is great for merchandisers who leverage the CSV files but then make changes to their slotting in the dashboard, or those who want to be able to reference their slotting rules in other systems.
  • Slot the same item into multiple slots for different time periods. This is really handy when you have a popular SKU that is featured in promotions back to back but might not necessarily want them in the same position for both promotional periods. Previously, you’d have to move the SKU at the time the promotion changed but now you can schedule and validate it all in advance.

Make More Data-Driven Searchandising Decisions

In our continuing quest to show you the most useful data where and when you need it, we’re proud to tell you about our latest analytics feature: page-level metrics in the searchandising view. This will show you how each page is performing with the metrics you’re already familiar with from Interact.

It’s available now for all search terms, browse categories and facet pages, so that you can make a more data-driven decision about where to add a searchandising rule.

Load Boost-by-Item Rules In Bulk

We’re always looking for ways to make your life as a merchandiser more efficient so that you can use your time effectively. To that end, we’re excited to introduce a new way to set up boost-by-item rules in the dashboard.

You may already be familiar with how slotting-by-CSV works today - this new capability will work in a similar fashion. You first download the CSV template by clicking the up arrow button when going to set up a new boost rule. Once the template is filled-in, click the button again and load the template. The dashboard will show you all the rules you just created, saving you time and all those mouse clicks!

Slot Items On Your Page By Attribute

We know how important it is that you’re able to alter the layout of your product pages when you need to highlight certain items. At the same time, you also know that the Constructor AI chooses the best products to show your customers. Now you can get the best of both worlds with our latest capability: Attribute-Based Slotting!

Up until now, you’ve been able to choose specific items to slot into positions on your pages so that your customers see exactly what you want. With Attribute-Based Slotting, you can define a filtered list of items from which the Constructor AI will select the most attractive one for each of your customers. This also means that if one of them is no longer available, the AI will select the next best item to show, keeping your visual layout the way you want.

For example, maybe you have an agreement with a vendor that you’ll showcase one of their products in the first position on a page. Now you don’t have to pick the specific item without really knowing how it could affect your KPIs. You can define the position to use a filter based on that vendor’s brand, along with any other attribute you have on your products.

To use this, start to slot an item and select the link shown in the image below:

From there, you can select the attributes by which you want to filter the items:

Once you’ve selected all your filters, the dashboard will show you a summary:

And you’re done! Now for each of your customers the Constructor AI will select the most attractive item from all the possible items in the filtered list.

Who changed this synonym? Find out in the dashboard!

You may remember from January 31st that we added the capability to see who last made a change to searchandising rules. We have now added this functionality to synonyms along with the ability to filter by user. Changes made to synonyms will have both timestamp and user information attached, however changes made prior to today will not have any user information shown. Surfacing this information can be especially useful for troubleshooting and auditing purposes.

For more information about this capability, please connect with your Customer Success Manager or contact us through support@constructor.io.
